Analytics and BI architecture
One warehouse. One set of numbers.
We build an analytics warehouse on your athenaOne data, define each metric once, and put quality and operations reporting on top. Finance, quality and operations work from the same numbers, and you own what we build.
2M+

150+
healthcare metrics in one athenahealth Data View warehouse
The problem
Your data sits in athenaOne and a dozen other places. Reports are built by hand and are out of date when they arrive. Every leadership meeting starts with a debate about whose number is right.
What we do
We engineer a warehouse from athenaOne Data View and your other sources, write the metric definitions down, and build the HEDIS and MIPS measure logic, patient-level gap lists and leadership dashboards on that one layer.
Ben Miller built a v1 ambulatory quality measure engine and its Tableau reporting layer, scaled to 2M+ primary care patients across about 2,600 sites of care in 19 states, and built a first analytics warehouse from athenahealth Data View integrating 150+ metrics.
What you get
Deliverables you own
Analytics data warehouse
Built from athenaOne Data View and your other systems into one governed layer, with written metric definitions.
Quality measure engine
HEDIS and MIPS logic you can audit, with patient-level gap lists your care teams can work from.
Leadership dashboards
Tableau or Power BI views of performance by clinic, service line and provider, drawn from the same warehouse.

FAQ
Common questions
- What is athenaOne Data View?
- Data View is athenahealth's analytics product that gives a practice direct SQL access to its own athenaOne clinical and financial data. It runs on Snowflake, and you can query it in a browser, connect a BI tool, or feed it into your own data warehouse.

- What are HEDIS measures?
- HEDIS is a set of performance measures maintained by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Health plans use it to compare care quality, and many of the measures, such as screenings and chronic-condition control, depend on what happens in the practice.

- How is MIPS quality reporting scored?
- Under the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), clinicians report quality measures that CMS scores against benchmarks, alongside cost, improvement activities and Promoting Interoperability. The quality score feeds a payment adjustment two years later, so data completeness matters.
- How is this different from buying a BI tool?
- We do not sell software. We build the warehouse, metric definitions and measure logic inside your own accounts, so you own the asset outright with no platform license and no black box.
- How long does an engagement take, and what does it cost?
- It depends on your data, your goals and how much your team wants to own. We scope every engagement in a free strategic assessment and give you a fixed plan before any work starts. Contact us to set one up.
